Solar petition’s gathering steam

People power . . . A petition protesting the development of a Cosgrove solar farm has attracted more than 300 signatures. The petition will be presented to the Legislative Council of the Victorian Parliament by State Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell. Neighbour Monica Sutherland and others are protesting the proposed 5 kW development. Mrs Sutherland said the submission period for the proposal had been extended to June 16, due to the COVID-19 lockdown. She has prepared a 23-page submission for the Victorian planning minister. Solar farms across northern Victoria and the southern Riverina are becoming as popular as cows in the Goulburn Valley. Many are still in the proposal stage and have faced opposition. The 60 locations on the map, plus more that are proposed, have the potential to change the landscape of the region.
