One step closer to the big dance

James was listed as a medical sub but was able to take to the field at the 31-minute mark of the third quarter of the Demons whopping 83-point win after key backman Steven May was subbed out of the game due to injury.

In the quarter and a bit James was on the field he played his role with nine disposals, seven kicks, two handballs, three marks and two tackles.

When speaking to the Yarrawonga Chronicle last week, James said this season had been a dream but the job was not done yet with the Demons to take their chances in the big dance against the Western Bulldogs in Perth.

“The year has been awesome, I’ve loved every minute of it especially when we’re winning,” James said.

“There’s nothing better than when you’re winning and I was just stoked to be a part of it, part of this year then again just being able to play my role for the team and whatever that needs to be done. I’ve loved every minute of it.

“Finals don’t come around too often and I’m just absolutely stoked to be a part of this group and what could potentially come about over the next couple of weeks.

“Not being able to play at the MCG in front of our home crowd is a bit sad too but we’re over here and aiming to make all our friends, family and supporters proud.”

Although sad to not be able to attend the match and cheer both her boy and the Demons on, James’ mum Prue is ecstatic that her got to play in the preliminary final and the possibility of playing in an AFL grand final.

“It is hard for the families not to be there especially now as they have made the grand final, we would still be there to support Melbourne whether James was playing or not,” Prue said.

“It was a very exciting night (Friday) and a great win.

“It’s going to be a long two weeks until the grand final.”

With an all Victorian grand final this year between the Melbourne Demons and Western Bulldogs there will be many friendly duals around town over the next two weeks with the best side to be determined and crowned premiers at approximately 10.30pm AEST on Saturday, September 25.

A premiership flag in his debut season could be on the cards for Yarrawonga product and Melbourne utility James Jordon as the Demons advanced to the AFL Grand Final in two weeks’ time with a convincing win over Geelong last Friday.
