SNOOKER

ClubMulwala Snooker Club

As we head towards something approaching what our lives looked like in early 2020, ClubMulwala Snooker Club has been a hive of activity.

The club is experiencing bumper fields for club events and social nights with the annual club doubles championship getting underway on Monday, October 18.

Father and son combination, Darren and Jake Thompson, are the favourites and will go into the event at very prohibitive odds.

As multiple previous winners of this title they set the standard for the rest but the Cincotta/Young and Hansen/Harbrow pairings will be amongst a pack of chasers who are determined to bring their best form to the table.

Good luck to all participants and may the best pairing emerge victorious.

Club Challenge number 8 was contested on Monday, October 4 and Dan Young got the chocolates over Michael Barclay in a closely fought final.

Dan and Michael are among the most improved players in the club this year, with Dan currently challenging Tony Cincotta for the lead in the Player Of The Year ranking.

Wednesday night social snooker on October 6 saw Chris Page making his first victory lap since joining the club earlier in the year.

Chris, who is possibly better known for his +4 golf handicap, demonstrated the benefits of plenty of natural sporting talent and much competition with Adrien Ridley when he took the final over Debbie Harbrow.

Debbie is having an excellent year and has featured in a number of final tables since the return to play.

Monday, October 11 was round 8 of the Digger’s Challenge and Nev Page demonstrated the value of the handicapping system when he emerged from a lengthy slump to limp to victory over very consistent Deb Harbrow.

Nev’s handicap has increased significantly in reflection of his loss of form but he is hoping to reduce it again soon.

Nev continued his run-on Wednesday, October 13 when he just got over Ashley Nicholls in the final of the social event.

Ashley is another of the improving players and he has reduced his handicap significantly this year with regular strong performances and increasing breaks.

As people can see on the ClubMulwala website and in its members newsletter, the club welcomes new members or anyone who may like to give snooker a try.

There are a variety of events held every Monday and Wednesday evening and there are plenty of opportunities for new players to join or come along to try the facilities out.

The club have 2 excellently maintained full size tables available for competition, practice and visitor use, and a regularly updated handicapping system to ensure players from beginners to advanced level can compete equally.

There are also plenty of experienced and skilled players who can help with advice and tips on how to improve your game or perhaps adapt it for those who have played pub or social pool in the past.

Please contact the club on either 0497 062443 or 0418 361779 or visit on a Monday or Wednesday evening by 7PM if you would like to give snooker a try.
