Men of Medals

Don described the investiture at Government House as one of the highlights of his life. The ceremony and colour of the occasion was most impressive. I have never previously experienced anything like it, he said.

Further honour was extended to Don when a framed portrait (of Don), was hung in Yarrawonga’s new Ambulance Station, in recognition of Don’s great work for the Ambulance Service over many years.

Members of the Council Ambulance Committee and the Don Forbes’ Commendation Fund Committee attended the function. Most of the money raised for the fund, $1229, will be used to extend the cooling system to the geriatric wing at Yarrawonga Hospital.

Local Rotarians extended congratulations to Don at the weekly meeting (April 1973) and took the opportunity of inspecting Don’s B.E.M. medal.

Don’s citation reads: “In recognition of his valuable Community Service in Yarrawonga District over a period of many years.”
