C Grade wins but Juniors miss out

With 15 overs still left to play the Lakers had another bat but didn’t fare too well finishing the day at 6/34. But an outstanding first innings win to the Lakers none the less.

C Grade

The Yarrawonga Mulwala Cricket Club took to the field with sadness; after the passing of 2020/2021 YMCC C Grade Premiership player Sean McLarty.

All teams across the club wore black armbands as a mark of respect and a blue armband to raise awareness of stomach cancer.

The C Grade Lakers have scored a 37-run victory over Rovers United Bruck in round 4 WDCA action.

Batting first the YMCC scored 9 for 139 from 36 overs with Adam Dodd leading the way with 67 runs, while Steve Lappin scored 26 and opener Josh Bozzola 22.

With the ball, the Lakers were able to re- strict Rovers United to 8 for 102 from their 36 overs.

Mark Ramano led the way taking 2 for 22 off 4 overs, with nine bowlers used across the day.

Bozzola took 1 for 7 off 6 overs; Dodd 1 for 4 off 3 overs; Lappin 1 for 5 off 4 overs; Rudi Vodusek 1 for 11 off 4 overs; Ben Pickering 1 for 19 off 6 overs and Gary Douglas 1 for 15 off 4 overs.

The YMCC saw opportunities given to younger players in the team with Vodusek in the wickets and Tom Coffey 0 for 11 off 4 overs and Xavier Colvin 0 for 5 off 1 over.

Round 5 sees Yarrawonga Mulwala at home to Rutherglen United on Vic Park 2.

Under 14s

The Under 14 Lakers travelled to Benalla on Saturday for a one-day match after they won the toss and elected to bat.

It was a solid batting performance with the team making 5/83 after 20 overs. Lucas Eales was 31 not out and Kade Sullivan made 16.

In reply Benalla made 6/129. Kade Michael took 2/5. Van Kreeck, Kade Sullivan, Nate Kreeck and Ben Coffey each took a wicket.

Under 12s Rams

Isaac McLarty was named captain for what was the first game of the season for the Rams.

The Rams bowled first with Lucas Pickering the best of the bowlers with 4/19. The team bowled and fielded exceptionally well with Mitchell Smith taking a great catch in the outfield and Slater Goudy with a direct hit for a runout.

After a great effort in the field and 97 runs for victory, the Rams had a batting collapse to be all out for 25.

Taj Parker battled out in the middle to make 6 runs, Darcy Hargreaves defended his wicket for 3 overs and Mitchell Smith was not out by the end of the innings.
