A beautiful Autumn Day and the prospect of playing another finals aspirant on the Lions home deck at Lonsdale Reserve had the local supporters out in droves.

The enticement of playing in front of the Ladies Day crowd saw Mulwala fired up from the beginning and the pressure applied to Moama on all lines saw Mulwala skip out to a well-deserved early lead. Sean Johns and James Wilson both playing their 100th game for the Lions started on fire, Jimmy was nullifying the Moama forwards and Sean had a spring in his heels resembling more of his 1st game than his 100th.

The midfield led by Bodhi Butts, Jacko Gash and Brad Wilson were utilizing the height of ruckman Jamie Smith allowing Mulwala to continue the attack through the middle of the ground in the second term.

Having the luxury of both Robinson boys up forward for Mulwala was proving a difficult proposition for the Moama defense as both Dylan and Sean were kicking accurately at goals.

Mulwala continued on with the seven-goal lead at halftime after the main break.

Owen Conway was having his best game this season taking some great marks around the ground and along with Beau Clarke were crashing packs to give the smaller Mulwala players plenty of ground balls.

Harrison Meade, Josh Tonna and Jake Dalgliesh were moving the ball around the ground with ease late in the game and Matty Gorman continued his great season hitting the scoreboard numerous times.

The final siren lead of 70 points was a great indication of the teamwork displayed by Mulwala all day.

Reserves Mulwala 3.5.23 defeated by Moama 18.9.117.

The Reserves were once again short on numbers and coming up against a well drilled Moama team was always going to be a tough contest.

With so much of the football being played in Mulwala's defense the backline led by Seb Hargraeves and Henry Lonergan held their positions well and Lach Wood and Isaac Pitches were able to get some run away from their more senior opponents.

Kyle Abikhair and Flynn Fletcher were using their speed through the middle of the ground where Joey Bland was again getting lots of possessions.

Angus Heslin playing his first game for Mulwala, and Austin Frauenfelder were sharing ruck/forward duties all day and combatted themselves well throughout the game.

A disappointing loss but well fought out game and with the inclusion of some injured players over the next few weeks will see the team back on the winners list.

Goals: Joseph Bland 2, Andrew Maskell – Dunstan 1.

Best: Joseph Bland, Kyle Abikhair, Austin Frauenfelder, Angus Heslin, Sebastian Hargreaves.

Thirds Mulwala 6.5.41 defeated by Moama 8.13.61.

With the addition of a few players who have been injured so far this season the Thirds are beginning to get their best team on the park and it is beginning to show with another great effort. Harry Barker was brilliant early deep in defence and with Riley Mitchell and Josh Eder providing some strong pressure on the Moama forwards were able to force many mistakes in front of goal that was keeping Mulwala in the game.

Jett Peters was again prolific all over the ground, Lochie Harvey was winning a lot of hard ball gets and Mulwala was gaining ascendancy in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

Entering the final quarter only down by 2 goals with Max O'Bryan and Jye Brennan starting to capitalize up forward it looked like the boys might pull off a fantastic victory however Moama were able to steady with goals of their own, running out of time Mulwala were resigned to another great team performance that just fell short of the four points.

Goals: Jye Brennan 2, Jeremy Bramich 1, Harrison Lappin 1, Jaxen Wheeler 1, Max O'Bryan 1.

Best: Harry Barker, Jett Peters, Josh Eder, Riley Mitchell, Max O'Bryan, Lochlin Harvey.

Fourths Mulwala 12.8.80 defeated Moama 0.4.4.

A very much anticipated clash against an undefeated Moama team had both the 4ths team and their loyal parents and supporters eager to see how the boys would match up.

The long drive over may have gotten to their opponents, but the Mulwala pressure was imminent early in the game as the whole team stepped up to the level required to be a true finals team.

Van Kreeck was prolific on ball as always and he and Jai Sneddon were making the most of the many Mulwala forward thrusts.

The backline was stifling any Moama forward moves with Sam Tayler, Zach Wheeler and Jace Gove winning all their one on one contests.

Baxter Donovan was controlling the ruck and the wingers in Beau Sissons and Axel Saunders were both playing great games controlling their areas with speed and skill.

Oliver Watson turned himself into the floating general across the centre half backline and along with the enforcer Maiko Leith were rebounding with interest.

Moama were no match for Mulwala's speed around the ground and with Van and Jai kicking 5 goals each and Nate Leith chiming in with a couple of his own their defenders were under constant attack. A fantastic team effort by all the boys who have showed that their dedication to training is well and truly paying off.

Mulwala are back at the Lion's Den next week hosting Deniliquin in what will be another great day of football followed by the Junior Ball at the Clubrooms. Be amongst the Pride of Lions.
