Local author at Yarrawonga Library

On Monday, August 1, local author Pauline Wilson visited the Yarrawonga Library to speak about her debut novel Conflict at Hanging Rock.

Twenty five people enjoyed listening to Pauline speak about this historical novel, which tells the story of two families who settled at Hanging Rock in the 1800's.

The Marlowe family are highly religious while the Blayneys are a more tumultuous bunch. The Blayney family deal with conflict within their own family and also become embroiled in a conflict over the Hanging Rock Water and Recreation Reserve.

Pauline has lived in Yarrawonga for over 30 years and has been researching family history for 15 years.

She started writing this novel after completing the Diploma of Family History at the University of Tasmania in 2019.

In researching her family history Pauline discovered that there was an interesting story about her ancestors at Hanging Rock and so decided that the story needed to be recorded.

Whilst it is a work of fiction and all the names have been changed, a lot of the story is factual and based on real events. The book is now available for loan from the Yarrawonga Library.
