Mulwala: Jake Dalgliesh 2, Tom Dow 2, Matthew Gorman 2, Adam Rouel 2, Beau Clarke 1, Owen Conway 1, Harrison Meade 1, Jamie Smith 1, Jack Sutherland 1, Thomas Wilson 1.

Best: Echuca United: Kynan Sharpe, Joseph Harney, Lachlan Egglestone, James Harney, Dane Leyden, Mitchell Boyd. Mulwala: Sean Robinson, Tom Dow, Bradley Wilson, Matthew Gorman, Josh Tonna, Lachlan Rouel.

The long trip to Echuca confronted the Mulwala team on Saturday and the seniors seemed to still be on the bus during the first quarter.

Echuca were working harder than Mul pushing players back into defense and the Mulwala team could not find a way to goals through the crowded forward line.

Although Mulwala controlled the football for most of the quarter they were unable to put a goal on the board.

The second quarter saw the midfield led by Brad Wilson and Matt Gorman take more control with Gormo sneaking forward to kickstart the team with a nice snap goal and Mulwala were beginning to break the shackles with some clever goals from Tom Dow and Jake Dalgliesh.

The third quarter saw Mulwala’s defense rise a notch with Lachlan Rouel and Josh Tonna containing the Echuca forwards and providing run and carry football that led to several goals.

Sean Robinson was taking control of the forward line with many great passages of play that led to goals and the teamwork through the middle of the ground was creating space for the forward line to take advantage.

An even final quarter ensued but the damage had been done and Mulwala came away with a strong win.

Reserves

Echuca United 5.4.34 defeated by Mulwala 11.14.80.

What was thought to be an easy game for the reserves was quite an arm wrestle in the first quarter as Echuca made the most of their opportunities and Mulwala did not.

Charley McKenna was everywhere up forward giving the Echuca defense major problems and it wasn’t until the second quarter that he and Joe Bland found their accuracy to start putting the opposition to the sword.

Andrew Maskell-Dunstan found himself in the unusual position across the half back line and along with Isaac Pitches patches of brilliance they were repelling the Echuca forward attacks gamely.

The younger legs of Mulwala ran out the game better through the middle of the ground as Henry Lonergan, Andy Miller and Sam Davies continued to move the ball around the wide Echuca ground with ease allowing Mul a convincing victory.

Goals: Joseph Bland 4, Charley McKenna 3, Lewis Taylor 2, Levi Saunders 1, Austin Frauenfelder 1.

Best: Isaac Pitches, Andrew MaskellDunstan, Charley McKenna, Henry Lonergan, Andrew Miller, Sam Davies.

Thirds

Echuca United 13.5.83 defeated Mulwala 3.5.23.

A tough assignment for the Thirds coming up against a top of the ladder Echuca team and the first quarter was a sign of ladder position as Echuca piled on 6 goals to zero.

As usual the team responded to Coach House’s requests for more effort and the midfield led by captain Jett Peters and Dillon Kirchen were able to get their hands on a lot of footy.

Fourths captain Zach Wheeler was moving brilliantly in the forward line with a couple of goals through the 2nd and 3rd quarters which led to older brother Jaxen Wheeler starting to throw his body around in the contests and really assert himself on the game.

Riley Mitchell, Jye Brennan and Brock Johnson were busy in the backline all day and a strong team effort ensured that the boys were not embarrassed as they fought out the game well.

Goals: Zac Wheeler 2, Benjamin Howell 1. Best: Dillon Kirchen, Jett Peters, Riley Mitchell, Jaxen Wheeler, Zachary Wheeler, Brandan Reid.

Fourths

Echuca United 1.0.6 defeated by Mulwala 11.13.79.

The young cubs were keen to get a good win under their belt leading into the upcoming finals and started the game well kicking 4 goals in the first quarter.

Charlie Drake and Luke Abikhair were brilliant sharing the ruck duties and Oliver Watson was gathering possessions at will all over the ground.

Jai Sneddon was prolific up forward and very keen to ensure that he remained at the top of the goal kicking ladder which he was able to do finishing with 7 goals for the day.

Rhys Burgess was moved up forward and along with Tige Sanderson were brilliant around the bottom of the packs and applying some great forward line pressure.

Beau Sissons and Van Kreeck were awesome around the middle doing a lot of the one percenters that makes teams great and were both rewarded with goals after their hard running.

A great team game and good warm up for the final’s series in a couple of weeks.

Mulwala are back at home for the last time this year next week and the wood fired pizza’s from “Getta Pizza This” will be on offer after the game so get down and be a part of the Pride of Lions.

Goals: Jai Sneddon 7, Van Kreeck 1, Rhys Burgess 1, Charlie Drake 1, Beau Sissons 1.

Best: Oliver Watson, Jai Sneddon, Charlie Drake, Rhys Burgess, Luke Abikhair, Tige Sanderson.
